Acupuncture

Acupuncture can have a powerful and sustained effect on pain and dysfunction in the body – as the process can stimulate natural pain relieving and healing mechanisms in the body.

Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of very fine disposable needles into the body at specific points for healing and general wellbeing.

Many physiotherapists in New Zealand offer acupuncture as part of a treatment plan. There are three main types of acupuncture practised in NZ:

  • Traditional Chinese Medicine which is based on the Chinese theories of energy balancing.
  • Dry Needling which is a rapid short term needling to tender
    trigger points.
  • Western Medical which is based on Western concepts of
    anatomy & physiology.

At Strength + Soul Western and Dry Needling Acupuncture is practised. Acupuncture can be used to treat many conditions such as muscle & joint problems, headaches and migraines and acute or chronic injuries.
